Who is the training for?

 
The basics of accessibility training is aimed at all people interested in building high-quality digital services. This training does not require any prior knowledge of the subject from its participants but serves as an intensive dive into the themes of accessibility. The training enables a good understanding of the big picture of accessibility and introduces different aspects of accessibility in an easily approachable way.

 

Training goals

 
The training focuses on the overall understanding of accessibility and the different aspects of accessibility (visual, technical, and content accessibility).
 
You get a unified understanding of your team’s accessibility goals and how to reach them. You will get a clear picture of where to start and how to proceed as a team in ensuring accessibility. At the same time, you ensure that your team has a uniform level of knowledge, which makes accessibility work smoother and more purposeful. 
 
The goal of the training is to create understanding and inspire the participants to speak up for accessibility within their own organization.

Coaching by experienced experts

We implement part of the training in cooperation with Avaava. Avaava offers solutions, e.g. accessibility of digital services and communication and inclusive design methods.

As part of the training, Avaava's experience experts analyze your service and demonstrate it’s true state of accessibility. In the training, these observations are reviewed and the findings are discussed.

Training content

The content of the accessibility training is always tailored to the needs of the company and the team. Often, coaching consists of these topics:

  • Theory and factual information: we build an understanding of the subject at a deep level. You will get a clear understanding of the requirements and benefits of accessibility.
  • What is accessibility, who is it for, what is its business benefit. What you need to know in order to implement accessibility as well as possible.
  • The tools we use that facilitate accessibility planning and implementation. In training, we practice using these tools.  
  • Keynote and accessibility demonstration from an accessibility expert (based on a service of your choosing). An experience expert will show your team how accessible your service really is.
  • Guided planning of how accessibility is going to be promoted in the team after coaching . After the training, you will have a common direction and an actionable plan for promoting accessibility.
